Challenge:

The usage of Pelham's Digital Learning Resources was limited because of all the class roster import problems. Every learning website needs data in a unique template format. Error prone and insecure data sets were being emailed and FTP'ed all about. Learning resources are never ready and teachers are wasting time setting up classes.

Application for Pelham Public Schools Smart Schools Bond Award

Challenge:

In January 2014, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo called for New York State to invest $2 billion in its schools through a Smart Schools Bond Act (SSBA). Voters approved the Smart School Bond Act in November 2014 and as a result the Pelham School District was allocated to receive $502,942.​ In alignment with the goals set by The Pelham Public School District 2015-­2019 Technology Plan, adopted by the District, the Smart Schools Investment Plans will utilize the SSBA funding allocation in the following instructional technology priorities:
● To Enhance and Improve The Pelham School District’s Network Infrastructure
● To Refresh uninterrupted power supply
● To Enhance and Improve our Security cameras and Systems

Challenge:

The initiative to use more online resources throughout the Pelham School District created new questions and challenges for students, teachers, and administration: How do we manage all of these resources? How do students log-in to all of these new programs? How and where do they find them all?

Elementary schools were lacking sufficient numbers of Chromebooks. Seventh grade Chromebooks were end of life and the 1:1 Pelham Chromebook Initiative needed to expand down into the 6th grade classrooms.
